faq

What is porchFest?

PorchFest LA is a free event held in Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and East Hollywood jointly on the first Saturday and Sunday of November 2024. This is our inaugural year!  From 12 to 5pm each day, dozens of  performers  will strut their stuff on porches and spaces  throughout these beautiful neighborhoods.

Is PorchFest really free?

Yes!!

What's expected of a host?

Hosts are required to sign a host/performer agreement, basically indicating that the performer agrees to treat you and your property with respect (and vice versa) and that you are not liable for any accidents or injuries that may occur on your property during PorchFest. This is a volunteer effort on all parts. We want to ensure that hosts and performers are gracious and supportive of one another. Host homes are required to have homeowners insurance. PorchFest LA is not responsible for any accidents or injuries that may occur on your property during the event. Hosts are required to provide the electricity and space needed for the performance. Performers are required to have their own sound equipment, including microphones, speakers, extension cords, and music. The maximum performance time is between 5 and 45 minutes. After the performance at your home, guests will be encouraged to move on to the next home. Hosts are required to inform ALL of their immediate neighbors of the event at least 2 weeks prior to PorchFest. Please be neighborly and gracious when you explain the event and be sure to invite them! Volunteers will be onsite to hand out maps of the performances. Please understand that this event is open to the public and the entire community is invited to attend. So, as a host you must be open to allowing strangers to stand in front of your home, and/or sit on your steps/lawn to enjoy the performance. A lot goes into planning this type of event. It’s imperative that the performance at your home starts on time. Starting late will throw off all of the other performances.

Is PorchFest walkable? And it is pet and child friendly?

Yes –  Though we may have a few different routes that you can bike or drive between. Check back here closer to the date for neighborhood maps! The routes themselves are each only a few blocks long. Learn more about our dog-friendly amenities from each porch host as each host is encouraged to set their own terms of access.

Is alcohol allowed? How can I purchase beverages?

PorchFest LA does does not sell anything. And hosts are also not permitted to sell anything. Please check with your hosting venue if they allow you to bring or drink alcohol on their property! Open alcohol containers are not allowed on the street or between venues in accordance with local ordinances. Please help support PorchFest by purchasing your food and beverages from our vendors.

What should I bring with me? What should I leave at Home?

We advise you to bring folding chairs and blankets for seating in front of porches. As noted above, NO alcohol outside of  permitted hosting venues. If you bring a pet, it must be on a leash.

What about restroom facilities?

Hosts are not required to make their bathrooms available. But check your map for restaurant and cafes close by, that might offer you their restroom especially if you buy something there.

Do you have a lost and found?

We do not have an official lost and found but could get the word to a few of the hosts or places you think you might have lost your thing that needs to be found. And or leave us some details  and contact info at support@porchfestla.com and we will get the word out for you.
